A week ago I had the great pleasure of canning nearly half of everything in
God's vegetable kingdom with my friend Farmer Sarah. We cooked up A LOT
of tomatoes, peach jam, pickles, green salsa, and raspberry jam. We did
it outside on the farm with two gas ranges, a boiling cauldron, a lot
of Ball jars, and crates of organic produce from Red Fire Farm and some
cucumbers from Get Down to Earth CSA, which Sarah started up here in
Stafford.
Seeing such an abudance of food and being able to
preserve it for the winter, combined with the heavenly bliss of being
outside under a canopy whilst covered in peaches and with tomatoes in
my shoes and being silly with Sarah... it made feel so fantastically
glad!
Nature is so generous- it blows my mind.
